I recently enjoyed chatting with the incredible Mandy Jakich from the Creative Matters Podcast about my artistic journey and practice.

Mandy, a seasoned podcast host with over a hundred episodes under her belt, records her interviews from her Muriwai studio. It’s an absolute honour to have been invited to share my story and insights alongside other talented Aotearoa artists.

A massive thank you to Dinesh and the Crafty Baker crew for hosting my collages and prints! If you don’t know the Crafty Baker, this is Titirangi’s favourite spot for excellent coffee and delicious sourdough goodies.
You can buy and collect original collages and limited edition prints on the spot: simply scan the QR code next to each piece.
I’ll be having lots of coffee in the next few weeks- come say hi!

Thank you to everyone who made it to my exhibition opening last week. It was a busy and hearty opening, and I feel grateful for all the support I received from you all.
Thank you to the Studio One Toi Tū crew for hosting and supporting 5 exhibition openings and looking after an army of visitors.
Thank you to the DJs Djskarob and Miss Bel-Q for the musical ambience of the smoothest tunes.
And a massive thank you to the wonderful and super-talented Tatiana Harper Photography for the sensitive eye and incredible pictures.

Here’s a link for the interview about Where Are You From? with Liam from Various Artists on 95bfm. The exhibition opening is today, 5-7 pm, at the newly refurbished Studio One Toi Tū . See you there!

When people of ethnic backgrounds are asked, “Where are you from?”; not only does this question imply a lack of belonging, but it is also laden with assumptions. One of these assumptions is that there is a simple answer to the question, that they are from one specific place or background.

In reality, people’s backgrounds are complex and layered. Within this collection, each portrait offers a nuanced depiction, showcasing individuality while celebrating agency, strength, and beauty.

Drawing upon my own immigrant experiences to capture the rich cultural diversity of Tāmaki Makaurau’s communities. Through my artwork, I prompt viewers to contemplate the assumptions that often arise when

encountering people from different backgrounds.

Immerse yourself in a vibrant and captivating collection of representational portraits featuring individuals from diverse ethnic backgrounds in Tāmaki Makaurau, Auckland, at the newly refurbished Studio One Toi Tu, 1 Ponsonby Road, Auckland, from Thursday, 28 September for a month.

Exhibition opening: Wed 27 Sep 5pm

A few photos from the recent Intuitive Collage workshop at Corban Estate Arts Centre. We all enjoyed the spacious and well-lit art room while connecting and creating. This is Rebecca’s feedback: ” I am happy to tell you that the class was fantastic. However, I would be remiss without telling you that the instructor Naomi Azoulay was outstanding. Although she is a trained artist, she displayed a high level of skills in her teaching abilities. She encouraged and stretched the students with praise and was able to convey information in an easy-to-follow and understandable manner. She was fun and inclusive while dealing with the needs of each individual student.
Simply put, she led a remarkable class. “
Thank you, Rebecca; it means a lot!
I’ll be back at Corbans soon; watch this space for details 🙂
